Nymphenburg Sketches

Concept and design of the catalogue for Hella Jongerius’ collection at the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory.

The painters’ test plates at the manufactory inspired Hella Jongerius when developing her series of simple, hand-thrown plates and bowls, each painted differently according to a principle she herself developed. Each piece is unique. The catalogue chronicles the whole process, from the lump of clay through to the painted, and partially gilded, plates and bowls. It describes in detail the concept of the décor. The glossy finish on the top side of each folded page echoes the glazed surface of the porcelain.
