Valerie Kiock was born in Munich in 1971. After a two-year foundation course at the Schule für Gestaltung (School of Design) in Basel, Switzerland, she studied design at the Schule für Gestaltung in Zurich (1994 – 98).
While still a student, she became founder member of furniture design group N2, exhibiting in Basel, Milan, Cologne, Lucerne and Hamburg. After an internship at Müller+Hess in Basel, and collaborating with Alex Rich, she spent 1998 – 2002 working as designer and art director in London, first at Williams & Phoa Ltd. and then at Gettyimages. In 2000 and 2001, she taught graphic design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst in Lucerne.
In 2003, Valerie Kiock set up her studio in Munich.
